  1. A dorsal incision was made over the left second metatarsophalangeal joint. Dissection was carried down through subcutaneous tissue. The extensor tendon was transected. At that point the linear capsular incision was made to allow for exposure to the metatarsal head. Utilizing the McGlamry elevator, there was complete release underneath the metatarsal. The patient was then resurfacing procedure witht he Arthrex implant. After appropriate reaming, the trial sizer was utilized and determined to appropriate fit. The final implant was inseted, press fitted after irrigation. The toe was brought through range of motion without pain or crepitus.

  2. Here we need complete documentation to code foot surgery. metatarsophalangeal joint surgery depends upon the diagnosis and the approaches.

From above documentation it seems to be 28293 (if dx is hallux valgus).

If given dx is not halux vallgus then it should be reported as 28308.

    Hope this help

  4. I thought that the 28293 code was appropriate for the hallux only, not the lesser toes. Is that incorrect?
