   Can I bill for hospital H&P and visits before a person has surgery? My doc admitted a patient three days before her planned surgery because of her multiple medical problems.

   Even if the patient was planned for a surgery earlier, it is always a requirement to evaluate a patient prior to surgery to confirm that the patient doesn't have any problem that may create complications during surgery.
   So, such E/M prior to surgery should be performed and billed with Primary Dx V72.8x
