  1. Having a hard time with my Doc. He did a Doppler for thyroid patient with masse, and put 93976 as procedure code. MCR denied because 240.0 is not an accepted code for this procedure. But he insists that he needs to check what kind of arterial and venous flow pattern the nodules have and what resistive idex and pulsatility index they have. Is he using the right procedure code, right diagnose code? Where are we going wrong? Perhaps the code for the Doppler is a different one. Please let me know. Perhaps via my own email? Thank you neumedbilling@gmail.com

  2. If you are going to study arterial and venous flow, then you need to try out for Duplex. Since these are extracranial arteries, so , you can use CPT codes:
93880 (Bilateral Study) or 93882 (unilateral or limited study)as per documentation.

  3. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer, but I do not see 240.0 amongst the ICD9s that are allowed for these codes either? Will it get paid?

  4. can anyone advise me on the "doppler for thyroids?" What's the right ICD9 code?
