  1. My Dr. used an implanted ICD in our office to pace a pt out of a slow ventricular tachycardia (antitachycardia pacing with continuous ecg monitoring). I have searched for proper CPT to code this and have come across many different CPTs coders are using to code this but none are specific to this procedure and place of service. Has anyone found a definitive answer on how to correctly code this procedure? We are going to try the unlisted code on one to see but would love to hear other coders understanding on how to bill this out correctly.

  2. Has the doctor performed placement of a new ICD device to treat the VT by means of ATP (AntiTachycardia Pacing), during the current encounter? Or, has he performed a kind of reprogramming / adjustment ("My Dr. used an implanted ICD in our office") to the already implanted ICD to choose optimum level of pulse or voltage? For placement of ICD, we can choose a code from series 33202-33249, based on the type of ICD and no. of leads placed. If the encounter is about reprogramming of already placed ICD, then we could pick a code from the series 93279-93299 or from 93640-93652.

It will be very helpful if you can provide the OP notes for the exact procedure performed.
