Frequently, she’ll use adjacent tissue transfer or tissue rearrangement (Z-plasty, W-plasty, flaps, etc.). According to the latest information from the Correct Coding Initiative (CCI), this family of codes (14000-14350) includes excision. Consequently, you shouldn’t report excision codes (11400-11471) and simple repair codes (12001-12021) separately when you bill 14000-14350.
